From Cathryn's passion for animal welfare came vegan handbag brand, Sans Beast. Join us on November 12.
Mercedes me Store Melbourne is excited to host an evening in conversation with Cathryn Wills, founder and creative director of one Melbourne’s most luxe and sustainability sourced brands Sans Beast.
After 30 years in the fashion industry, with 10 years specifically focusing on leather handbags, Cathryn became aware of how her passion for animal welfare didn’t align with her professional career. In 2016 she left her executive role in a successful fashion enterprise to launch a business that aimed to provide a high-end alternative to products derived from animals.
Hosted by TV presenter and national trendsetter Brodie Harper, the pair will discuss Cathryn’s extensive career history, culminating in the ethical motivation for launching Sans Beast in 2018. Cathryn will highlight the challenges (and liberation) of a launching a start-up and why building a business with purpose was so important to her.
With sustainability and ethics figuring so heavily on the consumer’s mind in 2019, Cathryn will discuss the negative potential for greenwashing, with the broad brushstroke use of these terms in brands today, and how Sans Beast responds to questions of ethics and environment.
Tickets include a drink on arrival and grazing table by ST. ALi.
