Two of Australia’s most extraordinary adventurers; Robyn Davidson & Mark Wales join us to share their incredible stories.
Hosted by Mark Beretta, the In Conversation will celebrate our explorer’s key accomplishments and delve into the physical and mental demands of their intrepid journeys.
Robyn Davidson is a writer, explorer and cultural commentator. Among a variety of daring travels, she is best known for her bestselling book and adventure captured in Tracks, which tells the story of her solo walk across the Australian desert with four camels and her dog Diggity. Tracks went on to win multiple awards, was translated into 20 languages, never went out of print, and became a feature film. Undoubtedly one of Australia’s ‘national treasures’, Robyn has built a platform on which she continues to engage a broad audience through personal insights of her courageous journey.
Mark Wales embarked on a career in the Australian military that saw him complete 10 tours of duty, 4 of which were in Afghanistan. As a Troop Commander in charge of 30 elite soldiers, Mark led combat missions against senior enemy commanders that enabled him to develop skills in leadership, teamwork and high performance. Battling depression and stress disorders after leaving the ADF, Mark tackled his recovery with the same intensity as his Special Ops training and increased his personal growth far beyond his previous abilities.
