Mercedes me was thrilled to host an evening of platinum proportions with the one and only Lily Allen on Thursday 7 February.
In Australia as part of her worldwide NO SHAME tour, the event was an Australian exclusive and provided Mercedes me guests with an unrivalled, money-can’t-buy experience to hear from a true global pop sensation.
The evening also kicked off Mercedes me’s partnership with Mushroom Creative House, which will see an ongoing Meet the Maker music series conducted in store throughout 2019.
Before Lily took centre stage, lucky guests were treated to drinks on arrival and a delicious assortment of grazing platters from hospitality partner ST. ALi. Being devoted fans of the artist herself, our guests created an amazing atmosphere, and clearly enjoyed Lily’s intimate performance on the night which included hits such as ‘Trigger Bang’ and ‘The Fear’.
The evening also included an ‘in conversation’ component hosted by former Triple J anchor, Alex Dyson. The pair initially met over the phone back in 2007, a conversation that sparked Allen to think about how much she has changed in the past 12 years. Speaking about how she “couldn’t really connect” to some of the songs on her previous albums, she explained how rewarding (but equally challenging) it is to now write songs that are a lot closer to her heart.
The duo also spoke about her new book ‘My Thoughts Exactly’, which is an honest and amusing memoir of her journey from tough beginnings to finding fame. Filled with personal anecdotes and detailed encounters from the music industry, it was obvious to see Lily is as genuinely candid as she is funny.
We are grateful to be able to host such pronounced talent and would like to thank Lily and her entire team for making it such a memorable night for all! Stay tuned for upcoming artist announcements and events in our Meet the Maker music series.
