To celebrate the one year anniversary of Mercedes me Melbourne opening its doors, we hosted a week long exhibition paying homage to the glamourous vehicles of Mercedes-Benz’ history and the iconic figures who donned the 3-pointed star.
In the year that has seemed to fly by faster than an AMG E 63 S, Mercedes me has welcomed over 160,000 guests, hosted over 100 events and displayed over 80 different Mercedes-Benz Vehicles.
What better way to celebrate this milestone than to pay homage to the celebrities, kings and queens, movie stars, rock stars and political leaders alike who have owned or shared famous moments with Mercedes-Benz over the course of history. Names such as Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, Fidel Castro, Sophia Loren, Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Queen Elizabeth to name but a few.
Launching the Stars and Cars event with an intimate brunch on November 26, media were given a preview of the stunning exhibition that featured the timeless 1956 300SL Gullwing, 280SL Roadster, Mercedes-Benz 600 Landaulet, 1953 300 S Cabriolet, 1986 560SL Roadster and one of only six Mercedes-AMG SLS Black Series in Australia. Combining a stunning display of classic vehicles and a specially designed menu from concept partner ST ALi, Mercedes me found its way into prime time news bulletins, newspapers and was prominent on social media in celebration of this unique event.
Throughout the week customers, passers-by and enthusiasts were able to get up close and personal with the vehicles and read the stories behind the famous faces. Melbourne’s very own, internationally renowned street artist, Adnate, treated guests to a live painting demonstration on the 5m high façade opposite Mercedes me with an Audrey Hepburn inspired portrait.
Friday Nov 30th saw Mercedes me host an amazing cocktail party in celebration of Stars & Cars.
The event was hosted by Brodie Harper and featured live performances, including from Odette who released her brand new single “A Place That I Don’t Know” the same day.
Mercedes me then opened its doors on Saturday December 1 for the final day of bustling 2018 weekend trade, with a last opportunity to experience the unique vehicles on display including Bing Crosby’s own 300 S Cabriolet.
Stars & Cars was a milestone event, celebrating a very successful first year at Mercedes me Melbourne.
Our doors will be closing Friday December 21 and reopening Monday January 14 for a very exciting 2019!
