Mercedes me Store Melbourne was excited to host some of Melbourne’s most influential fashion social media personalities for a relaxed discussion on how they prepare for the country’s biggest annual fashion event - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
With a combined Instagram following of almost half a million fans, Kristy Wu, Jess Alizzi and Jacquie Alexander are well versed in what it takes to make it as an influencer in today’s social age, and Mercedes me guests were treated to great behind-the-scenes insights, trend predictions as well as style tips for what will be seen at MBFWA 2019.
With a distinctive street style that stands out in a saturated market, Jess has been in a variety of notable campaigns, such as being the face of Spencer Outlet Centre and xyz. Jacqui has made a name for herself as the effortlessly cool fashionista that is always up to date with the latest trends, and Kristy is renowned for her monochromatic and denim ensembles that exudes a combination of attainable and aspirational style.
Attending MBFWA as a trio since 2016, they have learnt the ropes on how to navigate such a globally recognized event. Between shooting content and attending the biggest runways, Kristy, Jess and Jacqui each spoke fondly of how much they valued each other’s company at Fashion Week. For such a fast paced event, the girls said that it’s taken them 3 years to learn how to slow down and appreciate the moment as it comes.
Reminiscing on how nervous they were for their first Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in 2016, the girls spoke about the upcoming festival as a true highlight of their year. They also shared some thoughts around what they predict will be a big hit for this season’s trends. Kristy is expecting to see a resurgence in the cowboy boot while Jacqui claims that vintage shoulder bags are making a big come-back.
But their biggest piece of advice for the crowd, full of aspiring trendsetters themselves, was to be honest in your content. They spoke about how easy it is to get caught up in in what other people expect of you, but making sure you love what you do will ensure longevity and fulfilling career.
